Things My Daughter and I Love Doing Together
One of the things I've learned as a mom is that quality time changes as kids get older.
When my daughter was little, it was playgrounds, story time, and trips to the splash pad.
Now that she's older, our favorite activities look a little different.
What hasn't changed is how much I value spending time together.
These are some of the things we genuinely enjoy doing around Central Texas.
Trying New Coffee Shops
One of our favorite things to do is explore local coffee shops.
She usually gets something much sweeter than I do, and I pretend not to judge her drink choices.
It's become one of our favorite ways to spend an hour together.
Going for Walks
Some of our best conversations happen while we're walking.
No distractions.
No phones.
Just time to talk about school, life, friendships, and whatever else happens to be on her mind.
Exploring Local Boutiques
We both enjoy wandering through local shops and boutiques.
Even when we don't buy anything, it's fun to browse and discover new places.
Day Trips
Whether it's Georgetown, Gruene, Wimberley, or somewhere we've never been before, we love turning an ordinary day into a little adventure.
Trying New Restaurants
Food is one of my favorite ways to experience a city, and thankfully she's usually willing to be my partner in trying new places.
Some become favorites.
Others become funny stories.
Visiting Local Bakeries
This one may be dangerous.
A bakery visit almost always ends with us bringing home more than we planned.
But neither of us seems particularly upset about it.
Walking the Dogs
Blake and Dolly make regular appearances in our plans.
Even a simple evening walk can turn into quality time.
Just Running Errands Together
Honestly, some of my favorite moments aren't planned at all.
A quick Target run.
Stopping for coffee.
Driving around and talking.
Those everyday moments end up meaning more than you realize.
My Take
As parents, we sometimes put pressure on ourselves to create big memories.
But looking back, it's often the little moments that matter most.
The conversations.
The laughter.
The random adventures.
That's what I treasure most.
